LEED

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies intended to improve performance in metrics such as energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

LEED Key Points

  1. The TSA Kroc-Augusta Center is on a great site near the center of the city.  The project redevelops a combination of commercial, residential and park land in the middle of the Harrisburg neighborhood.  There is bus service, and the Kroc Center will add to the many existing neighborhood amenities.
  2. The project is targeting using 21% less energy than a comparable building designed to code.
  3. Over 75% of construction waste will be diverted from landfills and either reused or recycled.
  4. Over 20% of the products incorporated in the project have recycled content.
  5. Over 10% of the products in the project are from around the region around Augusta.
  6. Paints, glues, carpets and other finishes are specified without smelly and unhealthy volatile organic compounds.
  7. 75% of the occupied spaces have access to daylight and views.
  8. Artificial lighting controls keep the lights off when there is adequate daylight in a space.
  9. Low-flow plumbing fixtures have been specified throughout to reduce water use.
  10. The roof materials and colors were selected to reflect heat from sunlight and reduce the energy required to cool the building.

We are proud to say that the Augusta Kroc Center is anticipated to gain the LEED Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council.
