Scholarships & Social Services

First Stop Family Service Center

The First Stop Family Service Center is The Salvation Army of Augusta’s social service center for community members throughout our 14 county service area who have an address.  Services offered by The Salvation Army at this site include information and referrals, clothing and emergency food assistance, rent and utility assistance, case management, and Kroc Center membership scholarship applications.  Supportive services are offered to individuals, families, and seniors.  Some assistance is based on predetermined guidelines and availability of services.

To Receive Services

The First Stop Center is an appointment based facility, similar to a physician’s office.  If you need assistance please call to discuss your needs with an intake worker and make an appointment to see a case manager from The Salvation Army and/or our partner agencies also offering services at the First Stop Center.  Walk in cases will only be helped if time permits and all necessary documentation is presented.  For more information please contact the First Stop Center at 706-922-8330.  The United Way 211 help line offers 24 hour access to information and referral for community members who are in need or who want to offer help to others.  Dial 211 or 706-826-1495 to find out where you can receive assistance, volunteer, or donate to help others in the CSRA.

Utility and Rent Assistance

Project Share utility and rent/mortgage assistance is offered by The Salvation Army at the First Stop Center by appointment only.  Please call 706-922-8330 to inquire if funds are available and to be screened.  Program qualifications and restrictions must be met in order to receive assistance.

Christmas Angel Tree Applications

Christmas toy and food assistance open applications are taken for The Salvation Army Angel Tree program each autumn.  Call 706-922-8330 after August 1 for application dates and times, and the list of required items to make an application.

Kroc Center Scholarships

Reduced fee memberships to the Kroc Center based on income limits are available through the Membership and Guest Services Department.  Individuals, families, and seniors who require more assistance for membership fees may apply for a Kroc Center Membership Scholarship from The Salvation Army.  Funds are limited and the application process requires a case management assessment and interview.  Membership Scholarship recipients will be required to attend classes or enrichment programs, work towards a goal plan, and continue meetings with a case manager in order to continue receiving a scholarship.

Membership Scholarship application packets are available at the First Stop Center or click here.

Scholarships are also available for children or youth to assist with class/camp fees.  Please contact the Children and Youth Department at 706-364-5762 for more information.

First Stop Partner Agencies and Assistance
