The Salvation Army School of Music

We are excited to invite seniors, home-schooled children, and all of the general public to come make music with us! Remember, you do not need to be a member to enroll!

Enrollment has ended for our current spring session, but click here for some  upcoming opportunities!

We will resume regular classes in September. This fall, classes will be offered for current students and new beginner classes will be offered for all ages with no music experience at all!

Drums

Classes will teach experienced beginners (ages 7 through senior adult) fundamentals such as reading music (rhythms), proper sticking, basic rudiments, various drum rolls, and other drum topics.

Brass

Classes will be offered for experienced beginners, ages 8 through senior adults. The brass classes will teach brass-specific techniques as well as rhythms, music notation, and fun songs!

Guitar

Classes will be offered for beginners (ages 7 through senior adults) as well as intermediate players (ages 10 through senior adult).  The true beginners will learn parts of the guitar, how to tune, how to strum, basic chords, and their first songs!  Our intermediate students will learn more about reading music, advanced chords, differing techniques for playing the guitar for differing styles of music, and more advanced concepts.

Piano

Classes will be offered for beginners (ages 7 through senior adults) as well as intermediate players (ages 10 through senior adult).   The beginner lesson will start with the assumption that the student knows nothing about the piano or music and advance them from the beginning.  The intermediate class will begin where you are (examples:  I took lessons many years ago, but have forgotten some or most of it: I recently started lessons, but am paying too much) and take you to the next level.
