ABOUT THE SHOW:
John Bunion (J. B.) Murray (1908-1988) was a farmer who lived in rural Glascock County, Georgia, near the community of Mitchel. Believing that he had received a vision from God, Murray suddenly began to create art. He appeared at the office of his physician, Dr. William Rawlings, with a grocery bag full of drawings done on small notepads and cast-off paper. He believed that Dr. Rawlings was a “spiritual doctor” sent to help him take his message to the world. Dr. Rawlings purchased some pastels and art paper for him and within weeks, J.B. Murray had produced a dozen or more stunning works. Experts were consulted, articles were written and a parade of scholars passed through JB’s door. Since that time, J.B. Murray’s works have been exhibited throughout the world and he is represented in collections in Japan, Switzerland, France, and the United States.
